Use Videos To Create Rapport With Readers

If you have a decent webcam on your computer you can create short videos about your book and post them on your site, on YouTube and share them on social media sites.

This should be particularly easy if you write fiction because you can create a video for each important character. You can talk about their history, motives, feelings, etc. The list is endless.

For non-fiction you could create a video for each chapter. Expand on the main theme, offer additional resources, discuss reader feedback, etc.

There are many people who are visual learners and video appeals to them more than any other medium. Learn how to optimize your videos for search and drive your website rankings higher in the search engines.

Twitter For Fiction Characters

Communicating with readers and potential readers is your main goal with promoting your book. Consider creating a Twitter account for your main character(s) and using it to communicate with readers. Some authors are having luck with this but be sure to read Twitter rules first. If you decide to do this create a robust profile for your character but make sure that you disclose that your character is fictional. Sell More Books Through Guest Posting

No, we don’t mean guest post and push books on readers. No sane blogger would allow this anyway. What we mean is to offer guest posts that cover the topic of your book and the blogger will most likely allow you a link to your book website. Before you start offering guests posts be sure to read the rules (if there are any) offered by the blogger and be aware that you will need to offer unique content not used anywhere else!

Create A Business Card For Your Book

Use Google+ To Claim Your Online Writing

Get Testimonials For Your Facebook Fan Page

You already know how important reviews are for Amazon and Goodreads but have you thought about reviews for your Facebook Fan Page? If you have an active and well developed Fan Page ask your readers to post their reviews on it. You can add a link to your book on that post and pay a small fee to sponsor it so everyone that “Liked” your page will see the review! Book Marketing Tip: Get Reader Photos

This is me with books!

We’re always looking for marketing ideas for our authors and we just came up with this one. Whens someone buys your book ask them to take a picture of themselves with your book. With their permission you can post this picture on your blog and social media sites and if your reader has a website of their own offer a link to that site with their photo! Start a Pinterest board with these pictures. Each month select your favorite photo and send that person a special gift. This could be another book you wrote, a bookmark, a special report, etc. Get creative and have fun.

BookBaby and PressBooks Make Deal

Authors who use PressBooks for the free ability to upload and format e-books now have a distribution option thanks to a deal made with BookBaby. In the past if you used PressBooks you would have to export your e-book and upload it to a distribution site. Now, thanks to a deal announced in April, you can sell your books directly from PressBooks. There is a fee for selling on BookBaby but the convenience might make it worth it for some users.
