How Much Autonomy do you Have on your Job?

It seems that encouraging autonomy would be highly desirable in today’s lean workplaces…and it certainly would support employee engagement. Yet many leaders struggle to give employees autonomy on the job.

Obama’s vision for Sharing

Sharing. Our first thought when hearing this word relates to things that are “ours.” And that is a big part of it. But sharing is also about doing your part, being fully involved in the work of the team. 

When I heard the opening remarks made by our new President Barak Obama I was intrigued by his use of the words: “My fellow citizens. ..” The very word citizen invokes responsibility for the place in which one lives. This word sings out: I will participate.  Are we ready to share and be citizens?  What would our nation look like if we all participated? What would our families,, organizations,  and teams look like?
